Your First Step Into Climbing

Bouldering is climbing without ropes on lower walls with padded matting below. It is the most accessible form of climbing: you can train alone, at your own pace and with minimal equipment. This induction gets you set up to use our bouldering wall and auto-belay routes independently and safely from day one, enabling you to use all 1-person facilities at Dublin Climbing Centre.

Course Content

A qualified instructor will guide you through everything you need to climb safely and confidently on your own. By the end of the session you will be registered as an independent boulderer and ready to come back whenever you like.

  • Movement basics and safe falling technique
  • Bouldering wall rules, etiquette, and safety
  • Auto-belay use: how to attach, climb, and descend safely
  • How to read and attempt bouldering problems
  • First-time registration fee as an independent climber included (worth €10)

Rental equipment and a day pass are included in the price of this induction.

What You Can Do Once Qualified

Completing this induction unlocks independent access to the bouldering and auto-belay areas of the centre and a few extra privileges too.

Want to top-rope too?

This induction covers bouldering and auto-belay only. If you want to climb on the top-rope walls with a partner, then our Top-Rope & Full Access Induction course is the one for you.

Or, if you prefer a more structured introduction to all of indoor climbing with personalised coaching, our Learn to Climb course covers everything across 4 sessions and includes a free month’s membership.

Tuesday Bouldering Workshop: free coaching with entry

Once you have completed this induction, you are qualified to join our weekly Tuesday bouldering coaching session with Irish Youth Squad Head Coach Phil Duke. It runs every Tuesday from 7pm–10pm and is included in your standard entry or membership price. No extra cost, no booking needed. It is a great way to keep improving after your induction and meet new climbing buddies.
